Delete your account
Kouzina — account and data deletion
In the app: Settings → Delete account. It asks you to confirm, then removes your account straight away. If you can’t sign in, email support@kouzina.app from the address you signed up with and we’ll do it for you.
Deleting it yourself
- Open Kouzina and go to Settings (the gear on the cookbook screen).
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, then tap Delete my account.
That happens immediately — there is no waiting period and nothing to email us about. You’ll be signed out straight away.
If you can’t get into the app
Email support@kouzina.app from the email address you signed up with, with “Delete my account” in the subject. We’ll confirm it’s really you and then delete the account. Requests are handled within 30 days, and usually within a day or two.
What is deleted
- Your account and sign-in credentials.
- Your profile, including your name and language preference.
- Your membership of every family cookbook you belong to.
- Your favourites, and any invitations you had sent.
What is kept
Reports about content or people in Kouzina are kept so we can act on abuse. Deleting your account removes your link to any report, but a report still holds what was written in it and the name or recipe title it was about. To have a report removed, email support@kouzina.app.
What happens to the recipes
A family cookbook belongs to the family, not to one person, so this depends on whether anyone else is in it:
- If other people are in the cookbook, the recipes you added stay with the family — they are the family’s recipes, and deleting your account shouldn’t empty everyone else’s shelf. Your name is removed from them. If you were the cookbook’s only owner, another member is made owner so the family isn’t left locked out.
- If you were the only person in the cookbook, the whole cookbook goes with your account — its recipes are deleted with it, and its photos and voice notes are removed from storage at the same time (if that step fails, we remove them by hand from the log).
If you want to keep a copy, print the cookbook to PDF before you delete the account. Everything you put in, you can take out — but not afterwards.
Deleting a recipe, photo or voice note — and keeping your account
You don’t have to delete your account to take something out of Kouzina. Anyone in a family cookbook can do these from inside the app, and each one takes effect straight away:
- A recipe. Open the recipe, tap the pencil to edit it, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete this recipe, then Tap again to delete. The recipe is removed for everyone in the family, together with its photo, the photograph of the original card and its voice note.
- A voice note. Open the recipe and tap Remove under the recording. The recording is deleted.
- A photo. Open the recipe, tap the pencil, and tap Change photo to replace it; the old photo is deleted. To remove a recipe’s photos altogether, delete the recipe.
- A favourite. Tap the heart on the recipe again.
- Your name. In Settings, change What they call you.
For anything you can’t remove this way, email support@kouzina.app from the address you signed up with and say what you’d like deleted. Requests are handled within 30 days.
Timing
Deleting from inside the app takes effect immediately. Email requests are completed within 30 days. Routine encrypted backups are cycled out on their own schedule and are never used to restore a deleted account. Copies of reports already emailed to us are not recalled. Security and request logs kept by our hosts (Supabase, Vercel) expire on their own schedule and hold no recipes.
